If you are reading this, it is safe to assume you already know how to create a post in Wordpress. What we are going to look at in this tutorial, is how to create a more interesting layout for our blog post. Entering mainly text or an image or two is okay, but what if we are trying to stand out... be different with the layout of a blog post. The answer is simple... you need to learn about HTML and to enter code into the HTML editor.
Default Layout
Below we have a screen shot of a typical blog layout in Wordpress. It's basically a title and the body section below it. Not much to it.

Admin Page, Creating the Post
What we need to do is work with some of the options on the create a post page. There is a link called HTML right above the editor area. A blue arrow has been added to show its location. Our task is to add HTML code into the blog post, which will allow us to have greater control over how the page is formatted. It will make it more visually appealing. To start with... just grab the HTML code supplied in this link, (Right Click and choose "Save As"). This piece of code can be used as a template in any number of blog posts. The template startes with intro text, a large image, then a HTML table full of images, more text, a few lists, and some more text. All you have to do is add text and images in the appropriate places. The code can be modified by adding or removing sections.

The Results
Below is a screen shot of what your post can look like with the use of the custom template. As you can see, images have been added in the table cells and text has been added in a few spots with the use of HTML lists. It's a good way to spice up any blog post.

Closing
This tutorial may be a bit advanced if you are just beginning. The ideas presented should help you understand what possibilities there are, when it comes to formatting a blog post. Be creative with the words you write and with how information is displayed.
The template can be downloaded here. (Right click and choose "Save As".)
